Cancer

Problems are usually spoken of like this:

“My chest wall and shoulders are so tight ever since my mastectomy/lumpectomy/radiation therapy. I am so achy and tight since I started hormone therapy. After colon/rectal/anal/uterine/ovarian cancer treatment, I’m having problems with peeing and pooping, and it hurts to have sex. I don’t have any energy. Everyone tells me I should exercise, but I just don’t know how to get started.”

How can pelvic physical therapy help you with your cancer treatment recovery?

Treatment options include:

  • Manual therapy addresses soft tissue restrictions, joint restrictions, scar tissue, and asymmetries .

  • Biofeedback can help to retrain muscles that are weak, chronically tight, or overactive (especially for problems with peeing, pooping, and sex).

  • Education about common side effects of cancer treatment and what you can do to recover, improve your function, and make you feel better.
